Every year, hundreds of thousands of Australian giant cuttlefish gather in the shallow waters for one final purpose—to mate before the end of their short lives. It is one of the world's most spectacular marine wildlife aggregations. Competition is intense. Large males flash dramatic waves of colour to intimidate rivals and defend their mates, turning the seafloor into a battlefield of constant displays and conflict.  Amid the chaos, I noticed something different. Away from the crowd, a pair of cuttlefish swam quietly side by side, seemingly unaware of the frenzy surrounding them. The contrast was impossible to ignore, and I knew it was a special moment. To me, this photograph is a reminder that even in the midst of life's greatest struggles, there is comfort in having someone willing to stay beside you—until the very last minute.
